Brian, you KILLED it on those bar builds! Can you fill us in on your process , please? Either one of those work for me. The first set is more long and low board tracker-ish, the second pair are stylin' to the max! Any photos of what the bars looked like before the 'cutting and pasting'?

Pretty much did what guitar Carl said.
The first bars came off a schwinn classic four that I just flipped and cut a cross bar out of a wally goose to sleeve the inside cut 4" off a kids mongoose and slid over the inner sleeve.

The second handle bars I was just messing around grabbed the kids mongoose bars that I had already cut and a set that came off a girls rollfast figured about how wide I wanted them used a tubing cutter to get a good square cut then just did the same as I did on the first set with the inner sleeve

Then tonight I got the bike off the stand Sat on it and felt that they was a little to wide so I took a inch off each side of the kids bars feels a lot better and still have room to grab up there.

just need to figure out if I want to take a little more off and if I'll weld or go the GC route and jb weld.

Thanks for the details Brian! The pictures, along with your thinking process detailed in words really brings out the 'nature' of your build. And the dry fitting and finding the bars are a bit wide after riding / sitting on the bike, making adjustments; that helps take us along for 'the ride' on this build. I appreciate the time you took to do this.

Man, I REALLY like the custom bars you made! They have the look of eyebrows a little.
I can smell what you're cooking there! BM Eyebrow Bars!

Took a week vacation this week and I've gotten most of the choir list done that I wanted to get done so the rest of the week I can work on my build. Did manage to get a couple more things done like welding the handle bars smoothed out and primed. Added a tab for the chain guard and got the chain guard primed also.

Now just trying to figure out tank no tank and paint.

Love those bars.
I also like the half tank idea matching the frame curves.

Wednesday i got a white base coat on the frame.
20200618_180753.jpg
then yesterday sprayed the front with antique white. Not sure if you can tell in the pic.
20200618_180725.jpg
Also decided that I would try to clean up these crusty rims
20200618_165702.jpg
and swap the nexus 4 into one of those and re-lace the front hub after paint. That way I'll have matching rims. So today broke down the two crusty rims and cleaned them up with a sander and wire wheel in the drill.
20200619_160257.jpg
then I hit them with some rust reformer primer.

and now it's raining here so at a stop for now.

Got something yesterday for father's day for my build
20200621_171742.jpg

Saturday I was able to mask off the front and paint the rest of the frame. Need to get some strips between the colors and possibly on the rims also.
20200620_161040.jpg

Get that done and clear coat frame will be ready and wheels for re lacing.

Really cool paint scheme! Happy Dad's Day gift too!
Bring it on home~!

This weekend I got the rims masked
20200625_192730.jpg
and some Brown strips painted with a brush
20200628_193736.jpg
I then done some masking on the frame to separate the antique white and rustic orange with a brown strip like on the rims.
20200628_193811.jpg
Used Brown to match with the seat and handle grips. Then I decided to mess around with the head badge wanting to get rid of the pink so Brown it is.

20200628_193837.jpg

Also painted over the white with antique white.

Wow this is really turning out great. Best gender swap I've seen. Another thing you can do to help with the gearing on that Nexus hub is to put the largest sprocket you can find on the back. That way you won't quite as small of a front ring.

What a great build!

I really like the handlebars, and showing/describing the process is fantastic! I have had poor success extenting handlebars, the extra leverage seems to wreck em. I may try again with your method

The frame came out extra cruiser-y, a lot of fun, and cool all around!

Thanks I need to find a couple bigger rear sprocket one for this bike and one for another bike with nexus 3 speed.

Thanks this is my first time extending handle bars used the same method to extend the chain stays.
