I'm a big fan of Pat Metheny...his music is great to design to.

You've got to check out this Orchestrion that he and some others built....pretty mind blowing stuff. :shock:

I need to watch some of the Q&A videos to see if he explains how all of the instruments are being controlled.

He makes it sound like it's all a result of his guitar playing, but I can't imagine that by playing a melody on the guitar you could control so many instruments and still have them all sound good and create the music that he does.

If that it the case....this is truly more incredible than I first thought. :shock:

By 2008, Metheny thinks he had learned enough to proceed. The instrument makers began building an array of devices for him, eventually deploying a total of 400 solenoids to transfer Metheny’s directions to the mallets, drumsticks and picks that play along.

His website is full of much more info. Orchestrion is a very elegant Rube Goldberg device. :wink:
