Well, I couldn't stand it watching all the great stuff on the build-off, so will officially not throw my hat in the ring with my illegal Shelby Flyer. Why is what I would have called the Pelaton Punisher illegal? I started it before may of this year, and finished the wheel set, installed and set up the cockpit, put the BB and drivetrain in place and adjusted everything last week. And so sadly I have to disqualify myself before I even begin. But I have something brewing inside my head for next years build-off. Just finished this rat last week and have been riding it. (a lot) It is a fine machine, and I wanted to share it with all of you. I am not sure of the year, but Shelby fans may know. The frame/headset/fork/stem/truss-rods/head badge are original. Also have the original handlebars now on another bike. I gave it a backyard paintjob because the original was gone. I wanted a fast hard tail rider that I could hang with pelotoners on. It can sit comfortable at 22mph in the draft in 3rd. gear. Did not have a rat bike with clipless pedals, so this is a departure from my skip-drive bikes. Enjoy the pics and good luck on the buildoff to everyone. Specs are at the bottom of this post.

For a 50's? Shelby that's great!

Yes wildcat and yes LTJ. I put a lot of training miles in on the road, and wanted something with style. I am 6'-4" and like keeping the heart rate up.
Did you say 50's model? I never looked at the serial numbers on the frame and assumed it was a much earlier frame..

Just guessing, but let me do some research and get back to you.

I searched high and low and only found one pic of a straightbar Shelby, on Nostalic.com. This is from the 39 Spiegel catalog. So it may be a 30's bike.

Wow...appreciate the work WC. Looks like the pic shows a single yoke seat stay design like the Monarch frames, but no straight down tube. Very in-ter-es-ting...
