Seems that bikes that were featured on "Rat Rods" facebook are receiving more attention than others. I'm not a facebook member but I heard this from concerned members and thought I should post an opinion. It seems to me and others that "Rat Rod" has placed his favorites and those featured on his facebook are getting more exposure and votes. A lot of talented builders have been put in the shadows over some social network favoritism. i got a problem with that.

..or it could be that Ratrod's taste is consistent with that of a majority of users on the site. Actually, I saw several builds on the fb page that don't seem to be getting more votes than I would think they are normally due. I think Ratrod chose bikes he felt have mass appeal to to promote traffic to the site during the build-off. That same mass appeal = votes.

Your mileage may differ.

No need to get heated here.... Lots of kool bikes... I do not think anyone was swayed by FaCeBoOk.... Personaly.. Out of the bikes I voted for, not one of them were posted on there... We like what we are going to like... If you look at the votes, it is going as it should... Lets all keep this drama free and fun please... 8)

Alright, after looking through those that were "highlighted" I can see that they were favorites to win anyway, most of us already knew in our heads which bikes these were long before the build-off ended. We shall see how things play out. I knew all along I didn't have a shot at first, but I've won anyway since I can go home and open my shop door and pull out my 76er for a ride... a comfortable ride I might add.

Anyway, looks like only about 115 people have voted, heartbreak could be coming! haha

Keep it light guys, not really anything on the line here.

I have two accounts on Facebook...one is a FB "page" and the other is a FB "profile." The FB "page" is what I point people to from this site and you have the ability to "Like" that page. The other is the RRB FB "profile" which has about 1900 friends.

I have been throwing out reminders on the FB "profile" for people to check out the builds, remind them of the deadline, tell them voting has begun, etc. When I do this, I've been using links back to build off bikes that I thought would grab people's attention and drive them to the forum. I don't know how many of these people are actual members, but they have to be a member of the forum to be able to place their votes. From what I can tell, there hasn't be a huge influx of people joining the site since the build off began. Outside of trying to drive traffic to the site, I had no other motivation in trying to help anyone win or do better than anyone else. I actually dislike the fact that we even do voting for these build offs. To me it just ends up bringing out an ugly side of things and the fun is quickly eliminated.

Because of this, I'm seriously thinking next year's build off will be anything goes with no voting. Maybe I'll come up with a cool decal design or metal name plate to give out to the folks who finish their builds on time.

There should be one focus in all of this...build a cool bike that you like and enjoy the build process. :wink:

Now I feel like Marty McFly in an alternative 1985! Seems like there is a 2nd (personal) RR-page with a few bikes posted. Still those bikes are the ones that were expected to be favorites. On the other hand, there are bikes on that page that aren't getting those 'extra' votes you'ld expect from being 'highlitghted' on a social network page.
I'm with Gaskil that ther is a SLIGHT possibility that COULD affect the voting, but at this point I don't see anything wrong in the poll. At least not caused by mentioned FB-page.

Yeah, and a HUGE cash prize. haha Hope I didn't stir the pot too much. I have shared my own build and finshed threads with my FB friends, but haven't told any of them how voting takes place because I thought it would be stupid for any of my friends/family not into rat rod bikes joining a site just to bump up any votes I might get. I'm sure most others wouldn't go through the trouble either unless they truly were interested and might be an assett on this site.

Since I was looking at your page I saw some guy comment that his bikes were better than all of ours and he could've easily won had he know there was a competition. Please respond to him and allow him to enter ANY of his bikes that fit the rules and we will start voting over just for him, I wanna see him put in his place. Thanks. :mrgreen:

Well I agree with Rat Rod putting the bikes he did to get members to check out the bike builds and vote. I just wish he would have used mine, haha. Sure people have favorites and some of those favorites have alot of votes and I knew from the beginning I had no shot in even being in the top ten but I still won because I built an awesome bike that is one of a kind. 8)

i would like to point out that most pple who had voted so far have said that if they were allowed they would have for voted for way more then just three......... i myself voted for the ones that caught my eye witch seemed to be the rides that are getting the most votes......... and yet again great job on all the builds.......
