Just got back from the local city police bike auction. Never have I seen so many ten dollar bikes get sold for twenty dollars in my life. A full suspension Santa Cruz did go for 950.00 and a few fixie style bikes were above 200.00.

I ended up with a flat black electra and a late 60s early 70s Schwinn Town and Country Trike. This thing is super cherry. Original tubes and tires even. I have it soaking in WD-40 at the moment since it had about and inch of dust on it. Even the decals are mint. Number is GF16322. Maybe 1970 if I remember correctly.

I was going to flip it until the girl friend started staring at it like it a Chippendales dancer. I put some air in the tires and they seem to be holding (though ripped) and one of the rear wheels has a little wonk to it.

What do you all think?

Our police department stopped doing their auctions. They just give them directly to the local charities now.

I will keep it as the shop bike I guess. I took some photos of it for Craiglist and got the dirtiest looks from my GF. So I guess its hers now. Maybe I wont have to buy her a Christmas Present? Or I can by her new tubes and tires and call it good?

As long as the new tires are gift wrapped under the tree. Presentation is 50%.
