I just fogged it with brown black and red then softly sanded over the original stripes on the fender to bring them back. Then topped the paint with a spray minwas oak varnish then topped the it with a matte clear. Basically it was very light coats of paint

You did a great job Hooch! I love that laid back " display post". I have trouble with normal seatposts on vintage bikes, always looking for lucky sevens I can use to create more legroom, but you have notions cooking in my brain now!
