Protecting/painting inside of rims?

I have a few old rims that have some rust in them. I guess I'm going to have to soak them a little section at a time in oxilac acid. (Unless someone has a better method for the inside of rims?) once cleaned up, I was thinking of taping off the chrome edge, plugging up the spoke holes, and shooting it with Rustoleum primer. Is this good protection from future rust? Or does someone have a better suggestion?

as far as soaking the rim, they make a plastic container for storing Christmas wreaths that fits a rim perfect!

I've painted the insides with a brush using silver rustoluem paint.

Since it is an area not seen but would not hurt to stop it from rusting any more, wire brush the loose rust off,spray with Dupli -Color rust fix then paint.
