anyone have any experience with painting like this? think it'd work on metal or am I about to waste a bunch of time/money?

reminds me of marbling paper. you'd have to to have a big container for your bike frame!

I figure strategic sectioning might be able to do a half and half without too much obvious overlay

I did a model car like that. Didn't need a very big container for it though. How about an old bath tub? Should be able to find one of those for free. Check with a local contractor, ask him to save you one he takes out. Or you could make a tub out of wood, and put a plastic liner in it, it wouldn't have to hold water very long.

a big rubbermaid trash can would work too.

use a hoist or pulley system to get the frame in and out.

Right now Im working on a Salt/Vinegar daily spray on a bare metal bike frame...It looks like it was hoisted up from the Titanic.

I'll hit it with a Satin/Dull Clear Coat spray bomb when Im satisfied with the PATINA.

WARNING-Salt-Vinegar overspray WILL kill your grass...Ask me how I know. (Dads not pleased)
