Routed out the side so it'll hug the bar and squeeze in when I add the other side

Stick the two together use trim bit

Fits nice

How do plan to secure it in place? When I did a wooden tank I ended up using velcro loops around the tubes, screwed to the tank, that doubled as cable runs.

Might I suggest using ... screws through both panels to secure them together. We use them at work a lot to fasten door closers to thick wood doors.
