Prewar springers are all over the place when it comes to steering tube (head tube) length. Prewar boys bikes have short 5 1/2" headtubes so a prewar boys won't work on a postwar frame without severe modification.(lengthen steering tube and upper legs) Not only are the head tubes different lengths but the upper part of the legs are different lengths as well and have to be matched with the correct steering tube. Prewar girls bikes had at least 3 different length head tubes, depending on the year, so prewar girls and prewar boys won't interchange. I think one of the prewar girls had the same head tube as the postwar frames so it would swap. All 26" postwar bikes have the same head tube and will interchange. Clear as mud? 8) Gary
