This frame was built in 1980 in the Raleigh Carlton factory in Worksop England, the same year our dutch hero Joop Zoetemelk won the Tour de France with a similar frame and crankset, and a year before Carlton, one of the oldest bicycle factories from 1898 finally closed it doors after a Raleigh takeover in the 60,s.

It had a complete makeover with a Campagnolo crankset, Shimano Deore pedals, original SR seatpost, stem and downtubeshifter.

The downtubeshifter works surprisingly well with the Nexus3, though you got to be careful not to get your fingers between the spokes..

Wow, I normally think tall frames look awkward, but that one looks elegant.

i like the fact that the OEM old school shifter works for the IGH so question? you kinda have to memorize the position of the shifter to get each gear???

Well, i did this before with a vintage suntour downtube shifter and a nexus3, so i thought it would work with any type of shifter. The position is really simple: down is 1 up is 3 and somewhere in the middle is 2. I put the shifter down, then tension the shiftercable while attaching it to the shifterbox.
Hope to try this with a nexus7 soon.
