Re: Raleigh Rampar.....

mines a BMX.... pics tommorow, sorry for the delay.... weather makes me wanna keep the bike in my car and not move it in the cold

When Raleigh started to fall apart in the mid 1970's by out sourcing manufacture in different countries, one was Rampar in the US. Their headquarters was on Commonwealth Ave in Boston, MA. I got a service manual with one of my Rampars. I think that Rampar stands for Raleigh America Manufacture, Parts And Repair. It was before Raleigh USA. I have a few Rampars in my collection.

I'm 45 and back in the late 70's a Raleigh Rampar was one of the first diamond frame BMX bikes I ever saw and since then I've always wanted one. Most of us were still riding Stingrays on 'the trails' at that time. We called it trail riding, we didn't even call it BMX yet on the East Coast at the time. I said it then and I'll say it again, "That bike is cool!"

here's my dumb BMX question.... is it worth anything? I was going to trade it for a Firestone cruiser that my buddy has.

I haven't seen the firestone but either way it's a fair trade since both of us haven't paid for either of the bikes.. haha
