how did you get that handle bar on the Girven?

The stem on this Girvin is steel. I was able to carefully open the jaws (I used a drift in the front hole) far enough to install the bars from the bottom.

oh... <o__O> well then.. i though that but then 'he wouldnt bent the stem for that  hurm..

great build. I have to know where did u get the spring, what size is it?

The spring was on the fork when I got it. But they are available on e-bay, search Girvin in the bike section.

Re: RASPBERRY CHEESECAKE mock-up

My Electra 3 speed wheels showed up, I took them apart and laced one of the hubs into this.

I am looking for new bars, the Haros just don't seem to look right.
Not sure if I like the painted rims, may go with aluminum, I stripped the pink Electras (I was late to the sale) but still have to polish them.

Re: RASPBERRY CHEESECAKE update

Picked up some cork grips, stained and shellacked to get a little darker color.

All that is really left is to install shifter. Has anyone used one of these old shifters with a nexus hub, I am hoping to use it but am unsure if it will work.

Upgraded the wheels, I had this Worksman wheel set and picked up a nexus 3 speed from ind-chuckz (thanks Chuck).

I realized lacing these 11ga wheels is a lot tougher than standard 14ga

This bike turned out awesome!

The only thing that would improve the looks, (other that seeing it in my garage) :D would be to change the white cable housing to black. That would help it go away visually and would also match the brake cable.

A+

That turned out beautiful!!!!
I love the look of Girvin forks on these old frames. Especially with those beefy wheels!

I agree, need a black cable and will probably rotate the shifter 180 degrees and run the cable along/under the chainstay.
