Work has picked up so won't get much done this week, but I started changing the rear end a bit.

Things still don't quite meet up where they should, but it looks better than before I reckon.

So it seems I have quite a few leaks around the rim on both sides.
Probably about 8 spots all up....

Would one of those cans of puncture repair fix this?

Or should I just stop being such a tightass and get a tube....

Looks like you could use one of those giant exercycle sprockets up front. You're gonna be spinning like a wool bobbin with what you've got.

Made the spike from a piece of round bar I turned on the lathe and shaped using the angle grinder.
The slots were cut with thin cutting disc.

Welded it on to the nut, back in the lathe and ground the welds down with flap disc on grinder and shaped it a bit more.


I do this quite often.
Turn things in the lathe and shape with grinder.

Other than that just grinding the remaining paint off, going over some welds.

Once I get that rear wheel sorted I can probably take it for a quicck test ride before final sand, wirebrush, disassembly and letting it rust.

A mate gave me this.
Reckons clean the rim, slap some on and pump it up.

Worth a shot.

Just took it for the very first ride around the yard.
Well, to one end of the yard, then I had to get off and flip it around.

The turning radius leaves a lot to be desired.


But IT WORKS!!!!



I think with a few adjustments like seat position and handlebars it will be a bit better.
And yes of course a bigger front sprocket.

A few more attempts and I managed to do a full turn.
