I laced a new departure hub to a wheel. I took it all apart and cleaned all the bearings and regreased everything. For some reason stupidity got the best of me and I made this decision to start my 8'' heavy duty stationary buffer ....hold the two axels and stick it against the rim. Now two things happened really quick. The first was the rim went to 10,000 rpm's really fast and then the gyroscope effect took over. I was fighting to not loose control of the two small axels ,when the second thing happened. All the grease I had just put in the hub came out at one time. So now I'm blind, from the grease in my eyes, holding a gyroscope traveling at about a 100 mph. It was lucky that I never let go of it because I'm pretty sure a rim traveling at a high rate of speed will tearup things in your shop. So the moral of the story boys and girls ,is try to resist stupidity at all cost.
