I have a 20" BMX wheel but it doesn't have a sprocket.

Two questions:

1. For a single gear bike, which size sprocket should I buy, and how many teeth?
2. Do I need other parts or just the sprocket?
3. Any recommendations where to buy these parts?

Many thanks! Chris

Thank you. I see them for sale on line but a SIZE is not listed. How do I size a single speed conversion kit for a 20" BMX wheel?

well, it all depends on how fast you wanna go.. for 20" wheels you probably wanna get the smallest one that will fit your hub..

My Dahon folder (20" tires) with 48 tooth chainwheel had 16 teeth on the rear sprocket, and it rode fairly well, it wasn't too high for slower speeds, and went pretty fast, I wasn't needing a higher gear.

Yes though I want to keep the bike using a pedal break, so a freewheel would require a rear break assembly.
