Recent addition - Rollfast

I picked this up from my 80 something year old neighbor a few weeks ago, but I just got around to taking some pix.

The hub is a red band Bendix, marked "Automatic". I believe that makes it a 2 speed, anyone able to confirm that?

I am interested in determining the year of this bike, but I can't locate a serial number. Anyone have any idea where I might find it?
