Well, I got this sad looking late 50's JC Higgins as part of a package deal of bikes and parts...
Rough was an understatement. what really worried me was the skinny seatpost. No way would that hold me.
Luckily A friend found a nice piece of cold rolled steel in my garage the same diameter that I never knew I had!!
Eureka! The bike was usable again, somewhat.
The next day I went to work in the lab, adding parts and digging through piles, cobbling her together and by nightfall the bike was showing promise...
I had off the next day so it was back to work on the bike. After a day of tinkering, wire brush and steel wool therapy, with a bit of blue paint rubbed into the mix she was finished! I dub her Red, Rust and Blue.
Do I expect to win? No, not really, but did I enjoy entering? Of course...that's what it's all about .
