Here is my son's Schwinn Typhoon after a mechanical refresh!
It started out as a $30 rummage sale score:
We removed the front fender. The rear fender was heavily dented, so that came off, and we whacked on it with a hammer and dolly to smooth it out again and give it the proper "rat backslap." Then we stripped it down, went through the whole bike, greased everything and put a new seat on. The maiden voyage didn't go so well, as a tire exploded, so a new set of skins was put on. Finishing touches include a light cleaning of the rims, a wax job, skull valve caps, new grips, a bottle cage for those long trips, and an eyeball bell. Done!
We have the lust for rust!
