Has anyone ever removed the fixed sprocket (not a freewheel) from a Schwinn Exerciser wheel? I want to save the otherwise awesome 20" wheel and put a freewheel on it, or just use it as a front wheel.

Thanks!

did you leave the black wheel covers on?

I cut off the heavy rubber wheel from the rim. Now to drill a valve hole.

I did not. I have a pair of the wheel covers from two different exercise bikes that I was going to use on a bike, eventually.

on my wheel, the sprocket side cover has a metal disc in the center, that the fixed sprocket seems to be keeping on.. thus why I want to remove the cog, so I can remove the wheel cover.
