im not sure if this topic has been brought up or not but i figured i would just discuss re purposing different things to better use.
i have made garden sprinklers out of bicycles used bike frames to hold my gate shut and most recently cut up a old lawnmower handle to make a sissy bar.
i think re purposing is a great idea and a good way to keep stuff out of the landfills.
anyone got ideas and wanna share them feel free.
i only have a picture of my lawnmower handle sissybar so i will share this it isa relatively simple idea but very useful of something that was otherwise junk
enjoy

this is what i started with

sweet
that's the kinda stuff im talking about
re purposing goes side to side with rad rodding
use what you got and make it work
that wrench is a good idea rather then throwing the wrench away you used it as a mount and it looks great!
thanks for sharing\

You DID say different... WWII jerrycan into a teletanker electric guitar!
Currently looking for another jerrycan for a bike build...

Try hitting up the next local gun show. Saw a couple of guys selling them couple weeks ago at the Dallas Gunshow.

To the topic, the guys at Lowe's and Home Depot don't even try to help me anymore. I'm never looking at stuff for what it is intended. Always trying to incorporate or repurpose things. Great thread!

I used a worn out wrench as a light bracket.

Same here but mounted off the wheel.

I'm diggin' this thread... the cats at Lowes know me too! I've got a small collection of old wrenches I use for bits on Guitars too.
I've made the vibrato arm For a Bigsby style tremolo out of a wrench I heated up and twisted a few times...
I'd show ya but this IS a bike forum...hehe.

What's that extra wrench sticking out for??

I was going to do the same on the other side and weld a bar from one wrench to the other for a kinda front "bumper" but never finished it.

me too.
im surprised no one has started a thread like this.
re purposing is a key to rat rodding.
i will find a use for anything.
one mans junk another mans treasure lol.

Used a nicely weathered oak slat from an old pallet to make a top for the rear rack on my Electra. Yeah I know, not exactly innovative but it suits it well and gives me a chance to post a couple of pics.
