So this weekend is the 100 year anniversary of the Sandwich Fair in scenic and historic Sandwich NH.

It has been decided that my greater extended family will be representing in the parade on Sunday with a float for the kids and grown ups on foot. But wouldn't it be better to ride!

My wife will be on the Elgin I resto-modded for her earlier this year. I guess i need to address the crank arm/chain guard interference issue and get a proper seat on it now.

As for me, It's either the 41 Colson W/ ND 2 speed (which I'm kind of leaning towards because it has a nice low gear) or get the Cadillac done (or at least close enought that I can aim it and make it go and stop).

The Cadillac has kind of a big gear up front, and did I mention I'll be towing our 11 month old in a buggy. I guess I could put a smaller front ring on it for the event..

If you think it should be the Cadillac, better give me a kick in the britches in my build thread!

I''m looking forward to it, unless they put us after the livestock

That just improves your riding skills.

That should be fun. Last time I rode in a parade it was the Holiday parade. A group of bike commuters got together for an entry. The theme was "4 seasons of Bike Commuting" I had summer so I was riding in shorts and flipflops. Temperature 32F.

Ahh...... the Sandwich Fair, saw many a road apple when I was a kid there. My dad use to take us up to Squam Lake this time of year in the early 60's. As I remember we were amused by the fact they would run the parade through town twice so it seemed longer  . Afterwards my dad and I would go over to the Ox pull to see if the backhoe could pull the stone sled back for the next pair of oxen to pull. The Sandwich fair was the first time for me to see the motorcycles go round the inside of the silo.

Hope you had a good time riding the parade. This would be a good place for a swingbike  almost as good as squirrels  Did the Police talk to you at the lunch counter...............Sandwich Police.......can we see that sandwich son?...............put your hands where we can see them and walk away from the counter....

 We have the Sandwich Police on the Cape

The parade is this coming Sunday, I't going to be the Colson for me. Had no power last night so lost out on bike work time.

I'll have someone shoot some photos. I wish they did the motorcycle in a silo thing, that would be something special to see.

Hey Greylock, you should come back this year, should be awesome, 100 year anniversary! Fried Dough, Chowder in a bread bowl, how can anyone say no to that?

Well the parade was a success. the Elgin I built for my wife held up just fine on its maiden voyage. Our cumulative family float won second place! Heard lots of people saying "nice bikes" and "I had one of those when i was a kid". I was waiting / wanting to hear "I've got one of those in my barn....." I'll get pics up as soon as I can.
