Picked it up this Fuji yesterday. I believe it's a 1977 Fuji Dynamic 12.

Hi-ten Steel 661 with suntour components, sugino 42x52 crank and dia-compe center pull brakes.

It's not a high end bike and I won't be winning any races any time soon. But, it's an excellent commuter and will handle the weekend trips.

Just found an original Belt Fujita leather saddle on EBay for $30. My 1977 Fuji Dynamic 12 was originally equipped with a Fujita Saddle so I was happy to find one for a good price. Will replace it as soon as it arrives.

Dad build (late 2012) This is my dad's old Motobecabe Super Mirage. He taught me to ride without side wheels when I was around 4 I think. I remember looking up at this frame from a pretty low angle.

He kept it for years but didnt do anything to fix it. So one day, I picked it up, put a grinder to it, started cleaning up the frame. I think he was a little sceptic at first, until he saw the end result two weeks later. Hope you like:

Wheels are Coasties, Specialized turbo threads, Shimano dura ace quill stem, Origin 8 urban pro riser bars, leather grips, leather seat, white aluminium pedals, gold chain. Hard ride.

Nice looking bike, here is mine, a '79-'80 Taiwan Schwinn World Sport 12 speed a friend gave to me. I removed all the decals, replaced the drop bars with the stem and tourist bars off a Campania Sprint ladies bike my Dad had got at a thrift store and then gave to me. Also swapped to the wide ratio rear cluster from the 10 speed Campania. Installed a silver Terry Zero ladies saddle my BIL got in pile of stuff at an auction, yes free as well. The air pump had some flashy decal that I peeled off as well when I installed the plain gray bottle cage. The silver glitter grips were something I was going to use on Dad's scooter. Would replace the gumwalls with whitewalls, but they still have too much tread. Rides nice enough for a thrifty with ladies parts(oh wait, that doesn't sound right).

The previous owner upgrade the bike with gold components:
Modolo brakes and brake levers, Simplex LJ derailleurs, Pelissier hubs

What's the deal with the gum wall tires...meaning..why do people seem to not like them...are they 'weaker' strength wise, or is it just a 'look thing'..because I know the gumwalls were original with that bike..I have an '84 World with tires as hard as a rock.(it's pictured above, actually)... just started cleaning it today ..and was just getting set to order tires....orig. paint is looking good, thought I'd go with the orig black and tans...but, it's a flip, so probably would appeal to casual road bike warriors checkin' out C-list.
Question: ?? Do you thing anyone who would want to purchase this bike would rather gumwalls, whitewalls...or straight blackwall tires ??

In theory, the gum part is more pliable, but less durable because it lacks the carbon black that gives black tires their color. Having the sidewall better able to flex and the tread with the more durable carbon chemical chains was intended to be the best of both worlds. How much of a difference it actually makes is open for debate, but that's the reasoning. As for preference, I don't know, but I would guess the gumwall marks the bike out as old (which might be desirable) and possibly nerdy (which usually isn't desirable in spite of all the trendy self-styled "nerds" out there today—you don't get to call yourself a nerd until you've suffered for it, kids!).
