My brother finally had to get rid of his old bikes and called me to come get some rusty bikes. There in the pile was my long lost Roadmaster. So I've got a bunch of rusty lightweight 3 speeds and one of my bikes I had before I joined the military in 1980. I could only find my old Schwinn after I returned home after 3 years, and I've looked through his bikes a few times before. Something sounds fishy, but I've got my bike back. It has the seat stem that tightens up like a handlebar stem, and it had a 48 tooth star sprocket with green and red reflectors that I traded last year. I though the bike was long gone, but I have another star sprocket to go on it. It didn't have the right wheels, it had a Schwinn yellow band 2 speed that is now on my 53 Schwinn. That's why I bought it for $2.98 way back when.

This one will be done up the traditional rat rod black with red wheels and whitewalls.

All I could get from the original paint was that it was red and the words "division, Arkansas, USA". Anyone have an idea of what model and possible year this was by the decal? I also wonder what year the star sprocket was first offered?

nice refind. i have a roadmaster (60-62ish) and i had a hard enough time even learning it is a roadmaster, but i have learned a few things about these bikes. mine has the same frame and a 48tooth 5spiral amf chainring that i have seen on bikes as far back as the skiptooth and late 50's to early 60's, and i don't have that nifty clampless seatpost that you have. i heard they started the stars chainring in 61 or 62 as one person said, and another told me 58', but i was sure the stars came after the spiral style. now as for the seatpost clamp, or in your case lack of it, i heard that they did that thru like 60 or 61, and then used a conventional clamp after 61. id guess yours could be between a 59' and a 63'. good luck.

as what model it could be, i know roadmaster offered the skyrider, discovery and pacemaker back then, but i bet there may have been a few others too.
