Royce J.C.Higgins?

I know a guy who I am going to buy a Raleigh Sports from, I mentioned to him that I like British bikes. He says if I like british bikes then I should think about buying another bike he has. He calls it a Royce J.C.Higgins. Is J.C.Higgins british?

J.C. Higgins was a Sears brand. If it is a lightweight bike it was probably made by Puch. Not british, but just as good.
 
They were made by a collective, Daimler/Puch/Steyr, who also likely built Royce Union bikes before they started sourcing bikes from Japan. That maight be what he's talking about. -Adam
