Larry, job well done,Madd Hammer is one of the most outstanding bike i have seen. the whole idea of the bike is awsome. this has brought a new dimension to the bikes we build. you are an artist and the bike shows it. i liked this bike from the first time i saw it. sorry most of you have not had the pleasure of seeing the bike in real time. it is truly amazing.congrats on all the other builds. everyone has done a very nice job. so many great bike builds. lots of interesting things going on with all the builds. we have taken our art and moved into a new level. i know we call certain things by different names and i really do not like to label. we have here something different to show the world, sooo ya all get back to work an build them darn bikes. give us your vision and learn from all the others. great buildoff and i am glad to be a part of it. later

Congrats to the winners! Awesome job by everyone!

Wow... I really dont know what to say. I was thinking it would be really cool to place in the top 5 and was really stoked when I was gaining on Devilwing. I thought I would be a close second for sure. Thanks guys. I learned a lot building this bike and am overwhelmed by the support. I know its been said and I know it sounds corny but I really think everyone who started a build is a winner. You stuck your neck out and did what you wanted. This is more fun than just about anything Ive ever done and the reason is this group. Before I showed up here I didnt feel like there was many out in the world who understood why a crusty old bike could be as good or better than a shiny new one. The people I know that are "bikers" didnt really get it either. My little brother is a sponsored downhill racer that thinks 3 year old bikes are outdated and just about junk. He wouldn't be caught dead with a 6 year old bike on his rack. Trying to explain the appeal of a single speed balloon tire bike that is has a miss mash of parts and is covered in rust? Yeah, good luck. I dont understand the appeal of a $7000 downhill bike that you cant ride anyplace there is not a 30% grade.... Point is I dont feel alone in my love of strange bits of bicycledum We are all diffrent and yet share a beautiful thing. And I really mean it when I say thank you to everyone who voted my way... And Thank you to everyone who did'nt. Like I said in another thread. If we all thought the same way and did the same things this wouldn't be near as much fun. I feel guilty really that there is only one trophy because there is definitely more than one builder that deserves some recognition.

Im already looking forward to the next build off. Ive decided that what ever the criteria i am going to limit my fabrication and focus on building a super clean machine. A rusty crusty clean build. I think the argument that its "not fair" to the people who dont weld or fabricate is nuts. The key is not skill level or equipment. The key to a cool bike is desire, vision and perspiration. Case in point...What does Devilwing have on it that requires a welder? I figure I got around 225-250 hours in the Madd Hammer. I worked on it 16-18 hours a day for over two weeks straight. So what could you do to a bike if you spent a few hundred hours working on it? (not to say there are not plenty of people that put some serious time into there builds, probably even more than I did) My Grandpaw told me " If you do everything like its the one thing your whole life will be judged on.. You'll never regret a thing"

Anyway... I'll quit. Thanks. It means more than I can say. Not to have won but just to be among friends and feel like I belong.

And I realized that I never explained what a Mad Hammer is... A old blacksmith who taught me much told me you should never work with a "Mad Hammer" That the blows it lands will cause you to do more work than need be. You must first be at peace and then let the hammer do the work for you, through you. its no longer a tool but part of you. You cant impart your will upon the iron with a madd series of random blows. Its careful thoughtful blows that manifest the desired result.

So how does that carry over to a bike? I have no freakin idea.... But I always liked the term "Madd Hammer" And often say "dont make me get out my Madd Hammer".... so now Its a real threat.

Cheers, all! :D I had a blast! It's an honor to have my bike included among so many awesome machines. And Monster, I tip my hat to you, you blew us all away with your engineering abilities and metal work magic. Madd Hammer is one of a kind, be proud.

All the bikes in BBO3 were above and beyond anything I have seen done here or anywhere before. Everyone raised the bar and then some. I had a hard time voting myself, so I know how tough it must have been for anyone to choose. To those who liked my bike, thanks! Makes me enjoy it that much more. Hope you all enjoy your own bikes as much. We all win!

Can't wait to see what rolls out next time around!

Over already! Dang. Congratulations! The bikes are as different as they could be and at the same time rolling works of art that reflect a persona, an attitude, a vision. Amen to the winners! All 56 of you!

Joe

Yes, congrats to everyone, some deserving bikes for sure. I'm very proud to have placed as high as I did, thanks for some great competition!

Nice to see the top 2 being different styles of builds. The Devil Wing shows you don't need to have a metal shop and metal working skills to build an awesome bike and the Madd Hammer raised the bar for those that do. The Madd Hammer and Pay It Back show that even with the restriction of a stock frame you can still build something wild like these.
I think it's really tough to pull off a theme or replica bike like the Flying Merkel since there is the original to be compared and scrutinized against. Great job on this.
All of em great bikes!
Congrats to everyone!

I joined RRB a little late to get into this build-off, but it has still been amazing seeing everything that is going on.
I can definitely say i have come out of this enlightened, excited and most of all inspired.

Congrats all! amazing work!

I think this needs to be a new category of threads. Those are some serious hours you but into this thing!

I may have only gotten one vote, but that is plenty to get me back in the game next time

Congrats on all the fine builds, and thank you to whoever gave me my one vote I totally enjoyed tinkering on these things that I didn't spend a fortune on (unlike my cars I've had) but next year I am shooting for at least two votes I have a goal to do 50% better, but everyone made the WOW factor indeed!Mad Hammer,Pay It Back,Devilwing,Flying Merkel you guys just set new standards....be proud!!!!

by far the most competitive build off yet. everyone really threw down for this one i know that i for one reached way down to build what i did. thanks to all those that voted and congrads to the winner.

Congrats to Monster metal, Joeymac and Karfer. All great examples of style and engineering. It's great that so many different styles came out of this build. That and the great people are what keeps me watching this site day after day. My screen name is boardtrackfan but, I really like all types of bicycles. I wish I could have one of each!
