Saddle repair

OK this saddle came off my 57 JC Higgins, someone over the years used bailing wire to fix it but Id like to fix it right. Not sure who made it.


If someone could tell me what its missing or even has pics of the same kind of seat that would be great

I think its a troxel. The cross brace that runs between the two main rails has sort of a projecting piece from the front that the spring sort of clips in and leverages against. Perhaps that projecting piece has broken off? The "point" I'm talking about can be seen in this thread. http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=69326 You may find a replacement frame, or possibly fabricate and weld on the broken bit?

Thanks SSG that would be the part thats missing. Thinking about just drilling a hole thru whats left there and putting a bolt and washer in it

That would work, many saddles had the spring attached that way.
