I have a bike that looks exactly like yours ,cant quite see yer light is it a torpedo ? whats the lenght i might have the top half that''ll fit ...LMK...

Was just starting to clean it up. Thats why the grips are off. I have got to change the tires, I just don't like them. Would brick red ones look funny?
Heres some close ups on the light. I was hoping I would be able to "pop" the light out and bend back the trim it's 6-3/4" long.
Def interested in the top.

Sorry the one i have is too short , good luck , nice bike !

That's a nice old girls DX. I'd say middle 50's except it has drop center rims. If those are Schwinn rims and are original to the bike, that would put it late 40's or very early 50's. It doesn't have a tapered kickstand by any chance, does it? (1946 only) That bike would have come with black wall tires. Schwinn rarely, if ever, put white walls on a DX ballooner that had white or cream as the second color. And no, I don't think it would look good with red tires. :? That badge is the best part of the bike. Keep it, sell the rest. :p Gary

Bet that'll clean up nice. Even if wide whites weren't original, I think they look cool on it. Don't care for the tractor grip treaded tires like those, but cool none the less.

nice find BTW

Thanks everyone for all the good info. I though it might have been before "the fire" because I couldn't find the serial number. when was that fire anyway? late 40's? I have no reason to believe the wheels are not original. It was the clasic original owner old lady story but you know how that goes. Any way of telling for sure? What am I looking for on this tapered kickstand? I'm glad to hear it would have originaly come with black wall tires, I'm not a big fan of white walls. Black walls it is.

Thanks Again,
Highship

I really kind of like brick red tires on blue bikes......just a personal taste thing

very nice bikes. red, white and blue -a patriotic color combo. imo- it's the white that makes the red and blue not clash. reminds me of my youth. we would have red white and blue crepe paper through the spokes and a small flag holder on the handlebar with a fan shape of 5 American flags for riding in the independence day parade.
