Schwinn Custom Deluxe

I'm thinking of maybe getting a Schwinn Deluxe but I'm not keen on the seven speed nexus or the cabling & clutter that goes with it and brake cables... kinda spoils the vintage look! Has anyone 'retro styled' a DL7 to look older? I'm in the UK so US built cruisers are thin on the ground to say the least and noone seems to want to export bikes. But these deluxe bikes pop up from time to time. Its no exaggeration to say that it is easier to buy an american car than an american bicycle in the UK!! :roll:
