My best friend shawna told me her dad wanted to "re-tool" her dads old bike. so i picked it up and brought it home. so now, more than a year later i finally got started on it. it started out life as a BMX-ish cruiser with a black frame and a chrome BMX fork with a well worn seat and slight rust but overall in good shape. sorry but i don't have a before pic, so here's where im staring.

Re: Schwinn Faux Phantom

this was after the first re-paint that was a failure due to a bad mix of clear. i bought a womens 2008 Schwinn Deluxe 7 cruiser for parts (minus the 7-speed). i used the fork, rack fenders, handlebars, stem, and seat. i scored a $25 tank at a local pick witht the horn still in tact. i added a repro crankset and what i think is around a 1995 chainguard. i originally tried to paint it to match the 1995 model but as a combination of the paint going south and not being happy with the pattern. i started over. i had my friend Keith paint it for me because he's been doing it a lot longer than me and he's really good at it.

decals were done undre clear.

reassembly times!!

i tried to mount the tank but the two sides wouldn't line up and one of the welds on the front tank bracket broke. . . . .so i had to take it back and start over on it.

it's done!! i'll be taking it back to its owner who has no clue how much of a transformation it's gone through. i hope he'll like it. . . .
