schwinn question

will a repop phantom tank fit a newer schwinn frame i have what i think is an 80's or 90's schwinn frame. it's the cheaply made schwinn that doesn't have a serial number under the head badge and before i go and spend 50 or more on a repop tank i want to make sure it will fit

i know tanks will fit the newer bike shop schwinns (dont know about the wal-mart/target schwinns though), they make a schwinn deluxe currently that takes the same version of those tanks.

i'm sure this is a bike shop schwinn. my boss has the same schwinn that he got brand new in the early 80's from the schwinn shop he worked at. i want to do a rat rod schwinn phantom style bike.

This is a repop tank on my 98ish Schwinn, fits fine as does the late 40s/early 50s fork. The only thing different I've found from the older stuff is it takes a 7/8" seatpost.

They come up alot on ebay like below

It's been about 3 years since I got that one, don't remember if it was off ebay or a place called Blue Moon Bikes or Cycles in the mid-west. Seem to remember about $75 shipped. I think you can get plain chrome ones cheaper. Some places have bare steel ones for even less.
