Hi, a bike from Belgium

It was a Schwinn triathlon bike (650 c wheel size) that I gave a new life because one of the dual control schifters was broke and I got fed up
of having to search for new tires which are pretty difficult to obtain

It's a tribute to motocrosser Ricky Carmichael hence the number 4

Curvy top tube plate: stainless steel with a stainless number 4 raised 5 mm
wheels: 26 inch, just doubled the holes in the hubs, low spoke tension, one deore front hub just exploded while tensioning
had to extend rear brake reach to get to the rim, front no problem

early version had a rear disc wheel (see photo) but was in my mind overkill
early sawed off drop handlebars with shortened dual controls weren't comfortable
so swapped those for board track style

front end: 40 mm pvc tubing wrapped with carbon look sticky stuff, I think you can go 50 mm or even 60 mm without going over the top, used rivets
on the inside to connect to old forks, used rivets to complete the bottom parts of the fake fork

It's realy a blast to ride, the riding position and the super ridid wheels, make you want
to push the pedals hard, maybe a bit heavy though.

My dad's going to use it as commuter. (He's thinking about it)

Thinking about it? Thinking about it? He has at his fingertips the most stylish commuter anyone could ride, and he's thinking about it?

Well, office politics being what they are, I guess I could understand if his boss had an inferiority complex and was riding some POS commuter.

That's one nice bike, and the 4 on the curved top tube is phenomenal. Is that a 3-D cut out? Care to tell us how it was done? And how are those two front lights powered?

Just a 2-D dremel cutout, used lego's as spacers and glued them to the main plate.

Only one of the front lights is working with a dynamo on the rear wheel (left hand side), one dynamo
has just enough juice to run 2 bulbs i think.

btw, thanks for the positive comments, those seriously made my day

and another thing: my girlfriend thinks the bike is overkill, while I think it's reasonably subtle... weird
