Nice bike. I think the first year of Streamliners was in 1953 before that they were an Autocycle or B6. I would assume either the dropcenter wheels are a replacement or your bike is not a Streamliner. The Autocycle/B6 is very similar. S2 rims were being used a little in 1948 and mostly in 1949.
That's an original B607 Deluxe Autocycle, or B6 for short. B.F. Goodrich decal on the guard. Does it have a B.F.Goodrich badge? I'll guess the rims are original and the serial number starts with "A" or "B" with a number. Does it have a tapered kickstand? If so, it's a '46. The chrome truss rods are 3/8" which are the older style. They went to 1/2" sometime around '50 so I'd guess it to be a '46-'48. I think $1500 is high, but what do I know? 8) If the rims are original and it's a '46 I'd say $1000. Gary
local sale around here I would expect someone could buy it for 500-750, though a seller would probably ask $1500 for it, the hard part is the wait for them to pop up but they're out there.
Gary is the man when it comes to Schwinn trivia
I should expect someone with the username of B607 should know 8) Yes it is Goodrich badged. Seller says it's an early 50's but we all know how sellers don't always know what they have. I look forward to cleaning it up and luckily the seller is throwing in new tubes and tires with the sale price. I originaly thought it was a B6 but others have mentioned Streamliner and I'm no expert yet but I'll go back to saying it's a B6 now
Yeah Ill have to check out the serial number just dont have the time with a puking kid at home right now....seller did say he looked it up and he said early 50's. I think the streamliner came out in '53 abouts.
A Streamliner would have the 9 hole rack with only 2 struts. It would also have a RocketRay light and not a fenderlight. That's a B6, no matter what the tank says. The name "Streamliner" could have also been used on B.F.Goodrich badged bikes before Schwinn started making their "Streamliner". B.F.Goodrich also used the name "Challenger" on Schwinn built bikes. Keep digging! You'll find out. 8) Gary
Fun story about this one. The seller said he never really goes on CL but was trying to sell a lawn tractor of his and decided to give CL a try and went through the wanted ads and stumbled upon my ad looking for balloon tire bikes and decided to sell it since it was sitting in his garage for 3 years doing nothing. (he was going to try to repaint it himself...thank goodness he wasn't motivated). Sold it to me for $160 and threw in new tubes and whitewalls 8) Super excited
