Just bought this about an hour ago. According to the Schwinn serial number tool it's either a '51 or '58. Has the original 'The World' head badge and screen. The serial number is D08696. It's also stamped FRN on the bottom bracket.

Rear facing dropouts are pre-1946. "D" numbers are 1940 according to my data collection.
And it has original paint from the looks of it. I'm jealous.
The schwinn serial number tool is only for numbers after 1952, on the dropout. Even then it's not always right.

The rear hub appears to be a Morrow unit. I thought maybe the wheels weren't original but now I'm pretty sure they are. I tried to get the stem out of the head tube but it's stuck. I sprayed it with WD-40 but I'm not super confident it'll work. I'm out of anything stronger at the moment and really don't feel like going to the hardware store today.

The frame is all torn down now ready for a thorough cleaning and tomorrow I'm planning to get the wheels broken down. Everything came apart fairly easily after a good soaking with a mixture of WD-40 and Marvel Mystery Oil. I decided to leave the chain tensioners alone, the last thing I want to do is snap them off in the frame.
