Schwinn Tornado

I bought this sweet Tornado last summer and had a full tuneup done by a bike guru at a shop that specializes in rare bikes. Thinking about selling it since it's a bit small for my size and I don't have room to display it for show. It's a 24" with original Goodyear tires in good riding condition - must have been some amazing rubber compound back then. Does anyone have info on the year and what it's value is?

Made up to 1961 I believe.

If it was me, Id ask $200 and be happy with $150. Looks like it would just need grips to be all original. I think the truss rods are add ons from another bike though. Nice looking 24" for sure !!!

I wouldn't be able to help with the value but wanted to point out that I can't see the image since it's linked from the CABE. Their are probably others like me who aren't members their and therefore can't view any pictures linked form their site.

A Tornado would've been equipped with Schwinn tires originally, just sayin'. Cool bike though! -Adam

You gotta be a member and logged in, which is why the best practice would be to use pictures hosted via a different site.

That's interesting that the Goodyear tires were not original. Good info.

It doesn't appear that we can upload images to be hosted at Ratrodbikes.com. I tried uploading to my Dropbox and a public Picasa page and linking to that, but that didn't work. Thought about Facebook but didn't try that. I thought THECABE worked but I didn't realize you'd need to sign up to view. Maybe this will work. How do others do this, especially if you don't have your own site that you can upload to.

Usually linking pictures here works with Phototbucket, Flickr... you just have to use the right code and I don't know what's correct for the new site. The other option is to purchase Pro Membership, it allows you to upload your pics straight to the site for display. The membership is $20 for a year but so worth it IMHO for helping the site and allowing pictures to be so much easier.
