Thanks!!!! I thought they would bolt right up…. I miscalculated on the ‘61 running 26” tires

I hatred to cut those fenders, but really wanted the chrome and didn’t want to spend money on another set!

Got the the hardware kit painted, dried, together and installed just fine

Just put in place loosely for now

I REALLY wanted to use an STP sticker here, but it was just too big.

I lubed up the seat post pretty good for future maintenance

And she’s pretty darn close.

@OddJob ’s seat is like a cherry on top!!!!!!

Head badge, pedals, some easy peazy lights and a bolt-torque double check, and this puppy’s done!

I did tighten up those nasty spokes and true the wheels last weekend

Great job Jude. This bike stands out. I guess you will never have cable issues with that front derailleur. Those old Schwinn seats usually were pretty comfortable and long lasting. Your Schwinn seat restoration was terrific. Big fan of liberally lubing seatposts and quill stems. Again, Great job Jude.

Coming down the home stretch: that nagging shift lever failed on my test ride.

I took out the screw to look at it to see what was going on and found it was stripped!!!!!!

Uh oh!

Ran to the hardware store and bought a number of parts that didn’t work

I bought a thrashed Schwinn traveler a few weeks ago for a $5 spot!

Got lucky: had to add some #8 washers as the traveler shift lever screw was a bit longer, but works like charm!!!!

I lost the little D ring, but it works for now!!!!

The bike actually rides very, very nice.

That “soupy, pull to the left ride” form my original spin is long gone: pedals smooth, rides nice, great braking….. on rails
