Picked up this early 1960s 3 speed city bike.
The head badge decal only says "Popular Special" and "Made in England".
The downtube and seat tube read "Sports Model"
It has some Schwinn parts on it (seat and tires are Schwinn).
The fenders and chainguard and frame really look Raleigh-ish to me.
Nice chrome fork.

I love the 1963-64 bike tag on the front.

If you want to get rid of the dash panel on the exercise bike let me know.

Re: Raleighish Schwinn????????

Well it's not a Schwinn, but it obviously was made by one of Raleigh's factories. What does the crest on the rear fender say?

Schwinnish Raleigh

I will post more photos later. I mis-remembered what the headbade and fender badge said. It actually reads "Popular Special" "Made in England".
The SA AW hub is stamped 60, so probably a 1960 model.
The strange this with this one is all of the Schwinn parts.
Seat.
"S" bolt for the seat tube clamp
S3 Rims with Schwinn Spitfire tires

I guess maybe someone took parts from a Schwinn and fixed this one up at some point in time.

I should change to title to Schwinnish Raleigh.

I think you will find that it is a Triumph.

Maybe. Triumph, Phillips, Robin Hood, Rudge, etc. They are just rebadged Raleighs.

Yeah It's a Raleigh sports, The older ones where called Sports Models, that ones been harrassed quite abit though lol

I'll probably part it out. It was VERY cheap and I was buying it for the badge.
I do like the chrome forks though!
I can probably double my money by just selling the heavy duty baskets on CL.
I need to look to see if there is any market for the cottered cranks on ebay.

If there is a market for the cranks i'd be rich lol I've got so many. The sturmey archer stuff should have value though ever make a 3 speed with 700c wheels? lol lots of fun
