I have a lay back 7/8 post. Could I grind it down and use in a 13/16 frame or would that make it too thin and weaken it? I would be cutting off most and only inserting enough (maybe 2 ins.) to clamp in the frame.

2"s isn't enough penetration, will cause the top of the seat tube to break off.
What I do: get a good steel post, does not have to be solid, just strong. Use a steel m.t.b. bar end, cutt off the curved end, bolt it onto the top of the seat post, so it makes the infamous, lucky 7, post. Add a seat! I do not sit going over bumps, including curbs! :)

Seat post are pretty cheap to come by. What I do is insert 5/8 steel rod into short post. Then add another
post in reverse weld together and grind area cut to length. Super strong and cheap. I hope this help's
Tom
