Have you ever prepared to sell one of your bikes, doing some parts-swapping so that you can hang onto some of your cooler pieces, and ended up liking the bike better in its new, to-be-sold configuration? I just swapped the bars, tires and cranks on my 29er to make it more of a city/urban assault cycle, and I think that maybe this is the way I should have been riding it all along.

Opinions? Similar experiences?

That is a killer bike...would be prefect for speeding on the Chicago streets!

I would have a hard time of parting with it!

I parted with it last night - for $100. The good news is that I still have the BMX cruiser bars, tubular cro-mo 3pc cranks, sealed bearing pedals and alloy sprocket that I used to run on it. I'll use them in another project soon, I'm sure.

After riding that thing for a bit, I think I'm going to have to build a skinny-tire cruiser with similar proportions for running around town. It just felt really GOOD to ride that way.
