Attention, spoiler alert, FIL and me went to Sunrise Cyclery today
They just move and finally found how to get there

Started looking around after FIL found a comfortable couch to sit on
They have many file cabinets filed with old bike parts at a reasonable price

Saw a old bike without any wheels, perfect!

Checked it out closer and it was a Shelby Supreme
So I asked if they were selling "that bike without the wheels"
He said "Yeah, $20", Wahoo! Decided not to bargain at that price
Got to check out how to get a bike in my new car, no problem

Got it home and pulled off the fenders and chain guard (they were hardly attached)
Threw a couple of tires/wheels I had mounted up and threw a set of aluminum bars and different seat

Yes I know the front wheel is only in the truss rods--just a mockup

Not sure what year it is but if anybody has got any ideas, I'd appreciate it
Also does the chain guard look right (it's chrome underneath)
It's got a cool shape even if it isn't...

Thanks for looking
Steve

Sure thing! Just got paid for my bmx frame, so I can either buy a whole bunch of 20$ bikes or one 180$ bike...

That frame would make a sick klunker, steve!

Thanks all you guys!! :D I'm pretty happy
Skipton, The bikes might have to come apart but definitely possible for a Chicago trip this summer
Thanks for the extra info Nick, RustyK and me might get up there soon if we got the Thatcher's place

Here is another shot of the shop

You'll have to wait for more pics when I get around to FIL's thread Luke
Sorry SchwinnRay

Yeah they also had a DBS bicycle, he said from Norway, By far one of the most unique bikes I've seen

My picture doesn't do it justice but there is some pictures of the groovy chain guard on this website
http://www.flickr.com/photos/schwar/3026897386/
It's a boys bike with a curved top tube, square fenders, front fender DBS ornament,
Hand cable pulled drum brakes, and interesting colors silver/red
They were asking $300 so not cheap but I think reasonable for something out of the ordinary
Not my type of bike but maybe somebody local might be interested...

Also got a little thumb click shifter for $2.50, nice!
In the past, got my super lightweight Sugino Maxy cranks for $10 from them too :D
And my Eliminator shifter, then proceeded to build a bike around it

They also were really cool when I brought in my Jacked Up Pilot,
The only shop around that seemed genuinely interested :D

Here is the link to the shop and the new address
http://www.sunrisecyclerympls.com/
Not easy to get to the new building's entrance with the one-way streets around it
Look for this cool mural on the east side and smaller animal ones on the other sides

Notice the frames set out for the scrappers

Here is a link to another rather unique pair of bikes ( ) they had at their old location

It will take some digging to find stuff and they are still getting settled so it looks a bit crazy there
BTW: not a paid advertisement, just a shout out for a good LBS
They were very nice to FIL and they've got bike maintenance classes for women and group rides too

Thanks for looking
Steve
