Shimano 3CC coaster brake hub

your cable isn't frozen up???
is it...
if your cable is free and the knuckle joint is moving...
my next step would be make sure it is adjusted properly...
place the lever in 2nd or N (middle position)...
look at the indicator window on the knuckle...
their will be an N with a circle...
the circle should be centered in the window...
adjust as needed to center the circle with the barrel nut located on the knuckle...
if it is centered...
my next step would be to remove the knuckle from the axle...
next remove the pin from the axle...
add two table spoons of oil in the hole that the pin was removed from...
preferably 20 or 30 wt non detergent...
(no WD-40 this is not a lubricant...)
then reassemble and adjust the indicator...
next ride the bike...
chances are the oil will loosen up the internals of the hub...
it may take some riding...
while riding shift from one gear to another...
don't be surprised if it takes several miles or more...
i've never had to disassemble a three speed hub...
these tricks have always loosened them up nicely...

I've got a 3CC that's stuck in HI, but I haven't even started to mess with it yet. I see a lot of guys that are used to working on Sturmey Archers recommeding oiling Shimano hubs, but the 333 and 3CC are meant to use grease. If it doesn't free up and shift, I understand that sometimes the problem on 333's can be a broken/worn shift pawl. I don't know if the 3CC has this same design flaw. Just throwing this stuff up for consideration.
I've got an old 3CC that still works well. Is there any way lube it without tearing it down?
I have a shimano 3cc coaster hub - it shifts fine but the coaster only works in 3 or high gear - any ideas? I'm thinking I might just pull off the coaster arm side so I can see the internals without really taking it apart. Shoot in some cleaner then some lube.
