shipping bikes?

Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to have a bike shipped 700 miles? I am a newbie at this and could really use some advice. Thanks in advance!!

I've heard you can get a bike box at your local bike shop...they should give you it for free. Disassemble the bike as best as you can and pack it all in the box. That will help you save $$ and the smaller the box the cheaper it will be as well. I hear FedEx may be the best way to go, and in some cases the cheapest over UPS or USPS...but you'll have to check it out yourself to see with your particular locations and size of box.

I have used Greyhound for a few and they had the best prices for shipping long distince. Sulley

I have used Grayhound in the past, but it only works if you and the recipient live within a reasonable distance to the bus station.
