short(5.5in) crank rideability?

Ok..just put a bent springer on a bike and was wonder ing if it will be ok on a fairly flat 12 plus mile ride. I have a 48 and 44 tooth sprockets to use and the wheel sprocket is a 22 toother. Will either chain ring be better than other?
Basicly will it be rideable for that distance with 5.5 inch cranks? Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh yeah...26 inch wheels if that makes a hill of beans.

I'd go with the 44 tooth front sprocket. I have 5.5" cranks/44T front/22T rear on my Basman and it is a great combo for leisurely riding.

Defanitly go 44 tooth sprocket, the 5.5" cranks don't give much torque so a low gear is going to feel taller than it is. On a plus note you can pedal the stuff out of the short crank!
