I suspect this is a Huffy, but certainly parts of it came from across the pond. There were 2 rivits where the headbadge was.
Paint was cheap rattle can over metallic red. I got it as it appears from a scrap collector for a few bits of copper!
I was in a "casting away stones" mode, so I donated the bulk of it, keeping the fenders, (man I love those fenders!!!), Wald one-size-fits-all chainguard, Stingray pedals & the rear hub-- a '64 dated Sturmey Archer SC2 3 speed coaster, stuck in neutral. From what I've read (Sheldon Brown) SC2's were notorious for this & are basically death traps if you don't have calipers, too. What's the point then?
Here's the only other Brit I've had, a '71 Triumph, a $10 thrift shop purchase a couple of years back.
Really nice rider, but I traded it for a goofy late model folding bike. That's a Brooks saddle, a really cheap one not made of real leather, but it's a real Brooks...
I wish I got a pic of the old Phillips I saw parked outside the library the other day--stripped down patinaed elegance...
BTW, those Sears bikes are positively made in Austria (by Daimler-Steyr-Puch, lots of history, google it for more info). I had one & it was a good rider. Cool graphics, too. There's seems to be alot of them around, on the road even.
