Windsor Sumpinerother. Bought this bike cheap to steal the Nexus-8 out of it.
Came with a bunch of racks and fenders on it that cluttered up an otherwise pretty cool frame.

I'm gonna paint it flat black. Put a fat 24 on the back and a 2.2 or so 26 on the front. Maybe a triple tree fork and laid back bmx bars. Banana seat. Small round aluminum tank and a toolbox or something on top of the ladder/slingshot frame. And try to stuff the motor out of this forty buck garage sale find in it.(needs a new ignition/coil and magneto. $14)

My eyeball says it'll just fit.

This is my Betty. She was fifty dollars (Canadian funds) or about ten U.S. I bought her as a donor. I didn't know Betty had three speeds! My intent was to cut her up (sectioning?) but then I aired up the tires and took her for a spin. What a ride! I couldn't believe it. So, I cleaned her up some and took some shots to get her into my system for renderings. As I studied her lines I began to feel impressed. There are some interesting tricks at play in this design. Then I found out she'd been out in the elements because her owner had unexpectedly passed! So, I put hack plans aside. I regard her as my bomber, now. I even gave her new grips!

"The mixte – pronounced meext in French, but MIX-tee in English – is a step-through frame with a twist. The top tube is replaced by smaller-diameter twin stays that run from the top of the bike’s head tube down to its rear dropouts, bisecting the rear triangle.

Appearing in design sketches as early as 1901, these uniquely beautiful and stable frames proliferated in Europe throughout the 20th century... Most bike-history enthusiasts agree that the French term mixte, which eventually came to be universally appended to these bikes, implies 'mixed-gender.'"

I think they're generally considered to be "girl's" bikes in the US because all the ones I've seen were small sized frames. The ones I've ridden ride really nice, though. Here's an '83 Fuji I built for my sister. Changed to 700c over 27" to lower it a little and put a modern freehub on it with a wide range rear cassette for hills. Also moved the stem shifters to the bars where I figure they'd get the most use.

One thing I don't care for on step through frames is that the brake line runs are sometimes too twisted or just aren't clean. With this one, the brake is in a smart place, but I (had to!) run an aluminum tube through the center of the top tubes for the cable housing because the curve in it versus the straight lines of the frame annoyed me.

Here is my Higgins 24” survivor. I bought this for my wife, but she feels cramped on it compared to her 26” Huffy. I’m considering a ... change on it, but for now it’s it’s a nice lady’s cruiser.
