I love repurposed items, so instead of buying a cooler or specific drink caddy for the new patio we decided to get creative. Here's an old galvanized wash basin, for the young guys such as myself that had no idea what it was used for apparently it was a precursor to the motorized washing machine. It would have had a washboard in the basin and then a hand-crank wringer clamped to the side. All I know is it looks like it can hold a lot of ice, and it has a built in drain!

Just finished'er up. It's fun putting bike building skills to use on other old items.

Looks really good, expect it to sweat an drip alot when filled with ice and hot/warm outside, so take that into consideration wherever you sit it. Where did the sign come from?

Yep, pop rivets. Typically a non issue when the drill holes are the correct size there's enough tension amongst the sheet metal and rivets to form a good enough seal to keep out any water leaks that aren't under pressure, but just to be sure the whole thing's been sealed up tight and smooth with clear caulk.

Additionally, this thing's pretty large. I can probably fit two bags of ice in it before it even reaches the height of the bottom rivets, and melt-water will be draining down away from it anyway.

We used it tonight in fact and yes, there's a fair bit of condensation formation along the bottom skin. No biggie though, it's for use outdoors.
