Ok So we had a nice day last weekend and my baby girl got to ride her fairlady for a while. She was so torn up that she had ruined the original front tire on her bike (she loves telling people she has a bike older then her daddy) think she clipped a piece of concrete, well I looked at it and it seems to be just the rubber on the side of the tire, the threads are fine and its holding it shape and the rubber is still plyable . has anyone saved a tire like this?

Is it the outer rubber layer that's peeled back?

Frankly, I wouldn't muck about with a damaged old tire. I'm all for originality and all that, but there are a few things that should be considered OK to replace if the bike is actually riden and not just for show. Tire condition is a safety issue. Granted, it isn't like a car, where the loads and speeds are much greater (I've been very adamant about use of old car tires in the past). But ask yourself this: what would happen if your girl was riding down a hill, where she go some speed up, and the tire failed? Would she be able to stop safely? Is it worth finding out?

Its just her sidewalk bike so no worry of down hill or higher speeds and the repair would be just to get it by for the few times we have nice weather till spring, thinking I may try to gorilla glue it for now. I wouldnt say Im raising another bike collector but I told her this morning I could put one of the many bmx tires we have on it and she said but thats my cruiser not my bmx bike.

I once saved a slick on a 20" bike by putting another tire inside it. Is this the Schwinn spitfire tire? I have a few laying around I'll look tomarrow and see if I got a match for you.
Actually think they are westwinds. whats the difference between the west winds and spitfires?

Westwinds are 20 x 1-3/4 for S-7 rims. Spitfires are 20 x 1.75 standard rims. They are not interchangeable.

The Uniroyal Airflight will fit. I see it is the 1-3/4" size.
Didnt even think about them being S7 rims
