I've been wondering about this for awhile, but haven't had access to these tires to measure for myself. Is the outer diameter of a 24x3 tire about the same as the outer diameter of a 26x2.125 or is the 24 still a bit shorter?

Thanks

Thanks. :) That's what I figured. For some reason I have a problem with the rear tires of anything being shorter than the fronts. Good thing I didn't care when I was a kid with my tricycle.

i would also say that a lot of the diameter depends on what rim you use. a thinner rim would make the tire thinner and taller vs a fat rim which stretches the tire wider and will make it shorter over all. i have found the difference is anywhere between 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch between a 24 x 3 and a 26

I think because of the fatness of the 24X3 your eye doesn't percieve a big difference, on the bike below I measured exactly 1 inch difference using equal width rims 25 3/8 vs 26 3/8
