Single Speed to multi speed?

The main thing is setting up a ratio that's right for you with a singlespeed.
I'm 48 and I go on 50 mile rides with my singlespeed.

That's awesome! 50 miles on a single speed is no joke. The most I've done on mine so far is 40 miles in one day. My Electra is geared perfectly. I prefer a ss over a derailleur anyday.

It's about gradually building up to it though, when I got back into cycling about 6 years ago I went on a 10 mile ride and it left me much more worn out than a 50 mile ride now!
