Hello all,

I'm off to the Palmer Mass swap this weekend where I hope to purchase a skip tooth chain for my 1950 26" Rollfast. Just a fewe questions:
  • How long of a chain should I look for?
  • Any comon issues I should be awware of?
  • How do I know if the chain has been stretched?
  • What should I expect to pay?
Thanks, Bart

I think 56" is a common length. You can measure the chain and 12 full links should measure 12"(pin to pin). Other than that, just make sure it will clean up. Too Rusty may be of concern.

I have cleaned up a skiptooth chain that moderately rusty.
1. Degrease the chain first.
2. Soak over night or so in vineager to neutralize the rust.
3. Clean well in soap and water...(I use Simple Green)
4. Lubricate thoroughly. I soak in transmission fluid.
5. Wipe the excess off, install and profit!
